Endoscopy Center

On December 2, 2019, the Children's Endoscopy Center of Zhejiang University Children's Hospital was officially put into operation. It consists of the Departments of Respiratory Medicine, Gastroenterology, Otolaryngology, and Anesthesiology. Following the construction model of a first-class domestic endoscopy center, it is equipped with an otolaryngology endoscopy room, a respiratory endoscopy room, a digestive endoscopy room (including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and capsule endoscopy rooms), a gastrointestinal motility room, and an endoscope cleaning and disinfection room. Supporting facilities such as patient reception rooms, preoperative preparation rooms, and recovery rooms are also available.

The development of endoscopy at Zhejiang University Children's Hospital has a long history. In October 1985, Professor Ye Ruiyun from the Department of Gastroenterology established the first pediatric gastrointestinal endoscopy room in China, pioneering pediatric flexible gastroscopy and colonoscopy. In 1999, the Department of Respiratory Medicine began performing pediatric flexible bronchoscopy, making it one of the earliest institutions in China to offer pediatric flexible bronchoscopy and related treatments.
