Overview

Scientific research is a very important part of hospital mission as a teaching hospital        affiliated to Zhejiang University. The hospital plays an active role in various areas of scientific research.        The Pediatric Research Institute of Zhejiang University is located at the hospital. The hospital strives to work        on cutting-edge research and technology to improve clinical care and treatments. Dozens of active national and        provincial scientific research programs are carried on every year. Many of research projects have received award        from Natural Science Foundation of China and other organizations over the past years. Many research articles,        expert guidelines, consensus, and monographs were published by hospital faculty.


Through the hard work made by several generations of health care providers at the Children's Hospital,            remarkable results have been achieved. Two national centers were accredited—National Clinical Research            Center for Child Health and National Children's Regional Medical Center. Pediatrics was approved as            national key discipline. Neonatology, gastroenterology, respiratory medicine, and intensive care medicine            were approved as national key clinical discipline. Two key laboratories –Key Laboratory of Reproductive            Genetics and Key Laboratory of Diagnosis and Treatment of Neonatal Disease of Zhejiang Province, three            innovation teams—Zhejiang Provincial Key Innovation Team for Early Screening and Intervention for Child            Birth Defects, Clinical Medicine Innovation Team of Zhejiang University School of Medicine led by Prof. Shu            Qiang and Prof. Fu Junfen were established. Six provincial platforms, three international platforms, and 13            national platforms were built up. Neonatology, cardiothoracic surgery, child healthcare, pediatric            perioperative medicine, adolescent medicine, nephrology, cardiovascular, anesthesiology, hematology/oncology            were approved as Zhejiang provincial key disciplines.
