Children's Hospital Zhejiang University School of Medicine is largest tertiary hospital and the most comprehensive center of pediatric healthcare in Zhejiang Province. Founded in 1951, its predecessor was “Zhejiang Provincial Maternal and Children's Hospital" led by Professor Li Yuhua, a famous pediatrician, as the founder and first president of the hospital.

In 1981, the hospital held one of the earliest specialties entitled to confer the Master Degree on pediatrics in China. The pediatrics doctoral program and postdoctoral research station were approved in 1986 and 2000 respectively. Pediatrics was approved as the provincial key support subject in 1996; as the provincial key subject in 2002, and as the national key subject by the Ministry of Education in 2007.

Research

Scientific research is a very important part of hospital mission as a teaching hospital affiliated to Zhejiang University. The hospital plays an active role in various areas of scientific research. The Pediatric Research Institute of Zhejiang University is located at the hospital. The hospital strives to work on cutting-edge research and technology to improve clinical care and treatments. Dozens of active national and provincial scientific research programs are carried on every year. Many of research projects have received award from Natural Science Foundation of China and other organizations over the past years. Many research articles, expert guidelines, consensus, and monographs were published by hospital faculty.
