Overview
Immunology and Allergy at Children’s Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine was established in October 2012, which is one of the earliest and largest pediatric Rheumatology Immunology centers in China. Professor Meiping LU (MD,PhD) is the Department founder. There are nineteen specialists, including six senior attending physicians, ten fellows, and three residents now. Professor Meiping LU (MD,PhD) and Xuefeng Xu (MD,PhD) have certificate of PhD student supervisor at Zhejiang University. Our department operates 42 inpatient beds and offers specialized outpatient clinics daily. The nursing team includes eighteen nurses. It integrates clinical care, teaching, and clinical or basic research. Our department is the first research centre of CAR-T cell therapy on refractory pediatric rheumatic diseases in China, such as systemic lupus, juvenile dermatomyositis, etc.
All of our doctors have received professional training both domestically and abroad. They possess a solid foundation in pediatrics and extensive experience in diagnosing and managing both common and rare rheumatic and immunological disorders and allergy diseases.
The clinical services provided by our department encompass the following areas:
(1) Rheumatic & Immunological Diseases: Including but not limited to IgA vasculitis, Kawasaki disease, rheumatic fever, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (including monogenic forms), dermatomyositis, scleroderma, Sjögren’s syndrome, and Behçet’s disease; periodic fever syndromes, primary or secondary immunodeficiencies, immunocompromised states, autoinflammatory diseases, unexplained recurrent infections, abscesses, and severe infections.
(2) Rheumatic-Associated Conditions: Such as fever of unknown origin (FUO), unexplained rash, anemia, thrombocytopenia, eosinophilia, musculoskeletal pain, and multi-organ involvement of unknown cause.
(3) Allergic Diseases: Including urticaria, eczema/atopic dermatitis, and other allergic disorders, particularly those affecting multiple systems.
(4) Immunization and Allergy Counseling: Providing guidance on vaccination, allergy management, and immunization-related advice.
(5) General Pediatric Diseases: Diagnosis and management of common illnesses.
