A delegation from Riley Children's Health Visited our Hospital

On October 10th, the delegation from Riley Children's Health Indiana University School of Medicine visited our hospital. The members of the delegation were: Prof. Mathew Cook, president of the hospital, Prof. Mark Turrentine, director of the Cardiac Surgery Department, Prof. Elaine Cox, the chief medical officer and Li Xiaofeng, the chief of Heart Center from the Beijing Children's Hospital. The International Affairs Office, the National Clinical Research Center for Child Health, Heart, Heart Center team, Cardiology Department, CICU and some other departments all came to attend the conference.

First of all, Prof. Shu Qiang, the president of our hospital, on behalf of the hospital, extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced the construction of the heart center of our hospital, the ECMO treatment of critically ill patients, and the results we have achieved. Then, Prof. Fu Junfen, the Executive Vice President of our hospital, introduced the historical overview, subject development, and international exchanges of our hospital. In addition, the heads of each specialty introduced the training as well as the organizational structure of their talent team. Finally,Prof. Cook briefly introduced the strong disciplines at their hospital.

In conclusion, both two hospitals agreed to take the opportunity to develop close cooperation between the two Heart Centers and carry out all-round cooperation in personnel exchanges, medical student training, clinical medical services, scientific research and other related departments to continuously improve the quality of medical services and enhance difficult and rare diseases.

After the conference, accompanied by Prof. Shu, the delegation visited the cardiac surgery, cardiology department and CICU in our hospital. In CICU, Prof. Turrentine, director of the Heart Transplant Program at Riley Children's Health, consulted with the Heart Center team in our hospital for a 700-grams-patient with congenital heart disease and made constructive suggestions. Deeply impressed by the development and achievements of our hospital, Prof. Cook said: “With such advanced surgical technology and surgical team, and rich disease sources, we are very optimistic about the development of cardiac surgery in our hospital.” Therefore, we are looking forward to launching long-term cooperation projects with each other to jointly promote the development of children's health.
