Pioneering Sino-Thai Medical Exchange: Thai Pediatric Residents Complete Landmark Training at ZCH
From March 2 to 27, Zhejiang University Children's Hospital (ZCH) welcomed four distinguished pediatric residents from Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, one of the most prestigious medical institutions in Thailand, for a comprehensive clinical training program. The visiting physicians - Dr. Chatchanok Boonrassamee, Dr. Nattapon Jongkitsomboon, Dr. Neera Sarapee, and Dr. Phattiya Nimmankiatkul - engaged in an intensive four-week rotation that marked a significant milestone in international medical collaboration in pediatric medicine between China and Thailand.

Nephrology Department of ZCH Partners with Boston Children's Hospital for Specialty Training
On the morning of March 20, from 7:00 to 8:30 AM, a China-US Pediatric Specialty Training session was successfully hosted by the Department of Nephrology at Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (Binjiang Campus). The training focused on whole-exome sequencing study to identify novel gene in hereditary kidney diseases. Chaired by Professor Mao Jianhua, Vice President of Children's Hospital Zhejiang University School of Medicine (ZCH), the session featured a lecture by Professor Amar Majmundar, Co-Director of the Kidney Genetics Clinic at Boston Children’s Hospital. Attendees included physicians and graduate students from nephrology, genetic metabolism, and neurology departments.

ZCH Participated in the Development of ISPAD Global Guidelines for Type 2 Diabetes in Children and Adolescents
In December 2024, The International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) published ISPAD Clinical Practice Consensus Guidelines 2024: Type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents in the authoritative journal Hormone Research in Pediatrics. The endocrinology team of ZCH led by Professor Fu Junfen, President of ZCH, participated in the development of ISPAD global guidelines for Type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents.

The First Clinical Trial of CAR-T therapy for Pediatric Patients with SLE Achieved Great Success at ZCH
ZCH has completed CAR-T therapy for 20 children with refractory systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in 2024, and all of these children have successfully stopped using hormones and all biological agents, which is news of a breakthrough in China, even the world. This means that these pediatric patients can get rid of the pain of long-term medication, like a butterfly emerging from the cocoon, and restart a new chapter of normal and healthy life.

On December 2, the National Health Commission issued a document, making it clear that 14 teams from 8 provinces (cities) across the country, a total of 24 units, were listed as the first batch of national characteristic construction units of maternal fetal medicine integrated management of fetal heart disease, including the children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (ZCH) together with Zhejiang University Women’s Hospital.

ZCH Completed the World's First CAR-T Treatment for Refractory Juvenile Dermatomyositis
On October 28 2024, the Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (ZCH) had a breakthrough news: Qingqing (a nickname), the world's first CAR-T treatment for pediatric refractory juvenile dermatomyelitis (JDM) secondary Sjogren's syndrome, has successfully applied at ZCH. The girl is expected to be recovered by suffering for 8 years, now she doesn’t need taking the drug and was discharged from the hospital.
