The Sixth Visit of the Child Life Team from Loma Linda University

Again came the academic exchange week between the Child Life teams between the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital and our hospital. Since 2006, our hospital has established a long-term cooperative relationship with Loma Linda, which benefited both two hospitals. On August 31, the Child Life team from Loma Linda came to our school including, Prof. Alisha, Prof. Kirstin, and 8 graduate students.

On September 3rd, the 6th Anniversary Summary Conference of Children's Medical Counseling Services in Zhejiang University School of Medicine Children's Hospital was held jointly by the International Affairs Office and the Nursing Department. The nursing team, children's medical counseling service team and volunteer office members of the hospital attended the meeting. Mrs. Sun Xiaoying, director of the International Affairs Office, host this conference. 

Firstly, Mrs. Zhu Jihua, director of Nursing Department introduced the vigorous development of Child Life in our hospital and the positive impact on children and their families, and expressed sincere thanks to the Child Life team for this. Then, Mrs. Zhu Jihua, representing the hospital, hired Prof. Alisha, Prof. Kirstin and Prof. Michelle from Loma Linda as consultants for children's medical counseling program in our hospital. Finally, Nancy, the Child Life specialist in our hospital, introduced the general situation and challenges of the Child Life service in our hospital.

During the visit, the Child Life team from Loma Linda visited the hematology and oncology department, nephrology department, orthopedics department, cardiovascular medicine department, oncology department, and endocrinology department in our hospital, accompanied by Xu Hongzhen, deputy director of the Nursing Department, and the Child Life team in our hospital.

In addition, on September 5th, a Child Life Experience Camp was specially opened in the Binjiang Outpatient Clinic, and a roadshow was used to demonstrate the implementation of therapeutic game coaching. Nearly 100 children participated in the games, making all the patients and their parents happy.

The visit of the Child Life from Loma Linda benefited our hospital a lot and we will further develop the connotation and direction of children's medical counseling services, create a child-friendly hospital environment, and enhance humanistic construction of the hospital.
